On November 1st of this year, Christopher Castillo, a 28-year-old man from Melbourne, FL., made a Facebook post which stated:
“That’s the last straw, if he gets re-elected I’m going to hunt him down and kill him watch the life disappear from his eyes.”
A person known only as “V.A.” saw the post and responded to Castillo, telling him that such threats are a violation of federal law. Castillo responded by saying it was not a threat, it was a promise and that he would be willing to “take a few with me”, allegedly referring to law enforcement officers.
Concerned that Castillo may make good on his “promise”, V.A. notified the U.S. Secret Service field office in Atlanta, Georgia.
Agents went to Castillo’s home on November 8th and questioned him about the Facebook comments. According to the felony complaint filed by agents, Castillo told them:
“if the President was standing here right now? {I would} b*tch slap him, and beat the shit out of him, scream and yell at him and tell him he is a te**orist.”
Castillo’s father, Frank, told Florida Today his son was simply “trash talking” with his friends. He went on to say:
“A lot of people say things on Facebook that they don’t mean, and I understand the Secret Service has to do what they have to do, it’s their job.I would imagine they would find some people out there that really are loose cannons. Christopher is not one of them.”
He did not address the comments his son made to federal agents however.
Castillo recently lost his job at a BMW car dealership after getting into a physical altercation with a co-worker. Castillo threatened to kill himself at the time and was sent for a mental health evaluation according to a WDBO report.
